Dorothy Aileen Eskridge was born on Jan. 26, 1924, in Watonga, to Pleasant Malachi and Carrie (Smith) Ward. She was joined by two brothers and one sister. Upon finishing school, she met and married the love of her life, Woodrow Wilson "Bill" Eskridge in Belen, N.M. Together they raised three children.
The family made their home in Anaheim, Calif., from 1955 until 1984. Dorothy worked as a Linotype operator for the Times Mirror Press and Bill as a non-destructive test inspector Aerojet. Upon retiring, Dorothy and Bill moved to the Tahlequah area. Dorothy was very active in senior citizens where she volunteered regularly. She loved to read and enjoyed traveling, to see the sights. She was a collector of figurines and had quite a collection. She enjoyed watching movies especially the old classic, romance, and Disney classics. But that which made her happiest was the time she spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a member of the Woodall Old Country Church and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her beloved husband Bill on Jan. 9, 1999; her son Warren in 1985; brothers Bruce and Ivan; and sister Hazel Wharton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, daughter Reaunell and her husband Dietrich Klein, and son Preston Eskridge; her four adored grandchildren, Shannon Marie Eskridge, Warren Eskridge, Gwendolynn Eskridge, and Daniel Eskridge; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart Association, Memorial and Tribute Processing Center, P.O. BOX 1653 Topeka, Kan.,66061-1653; or Easter Seals, 230 W Monroe, Suite 1800, Chicago, Ill., 60606. Cremation, and ashes will be scattered on Kiamichi Mountain along with her husband's.
