ANDERSON, Carl E., M.D. - Passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 23, 2007, at his home in Cotati. He had practiced family medicine in Cotati, Rohnert Park area for 33 years. He was born in Kane, PA and graduated from Moorestown High School, NJ. He received an undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College, PA and a medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College of Philadelphia. He went to Letterman Army Hospital, San Francisco, for his internship, and served as a medical officer in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He started his private medical practice in June 1969 in Cotati, and moved to a Rohnert Park practice in 1986. He retired in December of 2002 to pursue time with his family and other interests. He was board certified in family medicine, and had a personal concern for each patient's health care, often making house calls. He was passionate about medicine and received a degree of Fellow and Diplomat by the American Academy of Family Physicians. He also enjoyed attending numerous continuing education classes. He was President of the Medical Staff at Petaluma Valley Hospital when it was first built, and volunteered at the Petaluma Free Medical Clinic. He was an active member of the Sonoma County Medical Association, and a member of the California and American Academy of Family Practice. He was on the Board of Directors of the Redwood Health Services, on the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for Medical Care of Sonoma County, and the President of the Board of Directors of the Cotati Fire District when the new fire station was being built in Cotati. His hobbies and interests included fishing, bicycling, gardening, and traveling, and was a member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church. He was a dedicated and loving father, enjoying activities and vacations with his family. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Anderson of Cotati; son William Anderson and his wife Carrie, grandchildren Katelyn and Vanessa of San Jose; and daughter Malissa Anderson Chapdelaine and her husband Cris of Santa Rosa. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, March 31, at 2:00 pm at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, 5475 Snyder Ln., Rohnert Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SCMAA Health Careers Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1388, Santa Rosa, CA 95402.
