Cheryl Marie Braaten passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 11, 2009 at her sister's home in Portland, OR after a long battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor. Cheryl was born on Sept. 13, 1962 in Rugby, ND to Leroy and Marlene Braaten. They moved to Vancouver, WA in 1969 where she grew up and graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1980.
Cheryl has been in the wholesale giftware industry for the past 25 years which has taken her to Seattle, New York, San Francisco and finally Santa Monica, CA where she was employed as an account executive at Stephen Young in Los Angeles.
Cheryl loved to travel, her last trip was to Australia in May of 2008. She enjoyed dining, laughing and telling stories with her family members and many dear friends throughout the country.

Survivors include her parents and family members: Leroy and Marlene Braaten of Vancouver, WA; sister, Nancy Braaten of Portland , OR; brothers, Rollie (Julie) Braaten of Camas, WA and Mark (Kellie) Braaten of LaCenter, WA. Cheryl also had three nephews and one niece: Jered and Dustin Braaten of Camas, WA; Matthew and McKenzie Braaten of LaCenter, WA.
A memorial will be held on March 21, at 1:00 P.M. at The First Evangelical Church, 4120 NE St. Johns Rd., Vancouver, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to or Providence Hospice and Palliative Care of Portland.
