|Cynthia Ann Eoff Geer|
|Learn about upgrading this memorial...|
|Birth: ||Nov. 4, 1833|
Cynthia and her first husband divorced in 1866 in Marion Co., OR., apparently shortly before Heman Geer remarried to his second wife. Since Cynthia was only 33 at that time it is highly likely that she remarried also.
There is a Syntha Ann Gear marrying a Joseph Lane in the Marion Co., OR marriage index Aug. 12, 1866 at the home of "Leonard Oaf". I believe this is Cynthia and she married at the home of her father, John Leonard Eoff, who lived in Salem. The spelling in old records is pretty bad at times. I cannot find a thing as to what happened to this Joseph and Cynthia Lane.
Upon further investigation I found Cynthia on the 1870 census in Eureka, Humboldt Co., CA listed as Lam instead of Lane in the census index. It is obvious that the name is Lane but the census transcriber thought it was Lam. She was listed along with her husband Joseph Lane and her son Ralf Geer who we know is Ralph, not Ralf, son of Heman Geer. Ancestry.com files claim that Ralph died in 1872 and apparently he must have died in Eureka, CA., and that is probably where Cynthia died also?
It appears that of the three sons Cynthia had with Heman, that were still living in 1870, only Ralph stayed with his mother whereas the other 2 sons stayed in OR with their father.
