|Birth: ||Mar. 4, 1821|
|Death: ||May 9, 1899|
The Owingsville-Outlook, a newspaper out of Bath Co., KY published May 11, 1899-source found on KYGENWEB Bath Co., KY section.
"Joseph Davis, aged about 80, died at the home of his son near Craigs Tuesday and was buried at the David Bailey burial ground Wednesday. He had been a paralytic for several years. He was a half brother of the late Jefferson Rice, being the son of Mr. Rice's mother by her second marriage."
Joseph Davis mother was Sarah Bailey (a daughter, it is believed, of John Bailey (of infamous denied Revolutionary War pension fame) and Sarah Tatum.
Sarah Bailey married twice
1st to Fleming Rice who died between April 28, 1808-1809 having left a probated will in Montgomery Co., KY naming their only son Jefferson Rice.
2nd to Ignatius Davis by whom she had 7 children.
I do not believe it is known where Sarah Bailey or her husbands, Fleming Rice or Ignatius Davis are buried.
I do not know if Joseph Davis has a stone or not, it is possible he was married at least twice, the 1880 Bath Co., KY census names a Sarah and the 1850 and 1860 census name a Clarissa (of various spellings.
