My mom was born Marie Antoinette McGalin in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. She was the daughter of William McGalin and Marie Antoinette Shire. She got the nickname "Peggy" by the doctor who delivered her, he said Marie Antoinette was not Irish enough! She attended Longfellow Elementary School, Highland Junior High School and Atherton High School back when it was for girls only. She went to the University of Louisville in Kentucky, worked for Seagrams Distillery, Louisville Tuberculosis Association and the Kentuckiana Girl Scouts. She was married first to Charles Harrison Gould in 1939 then divorced in 1943. She then married Clyde Rice Horton in 1949 and had two children, my brother and myself. When she died she was cremated and her ashes were scattered in the Virgin Islands. Love you Mom!!
