Joe Oliver Elson of Granbury, a retired electrician, died Wednesday, Nov.15, 2000 in Fort Worth.He was 76.
Mr. Elson was born Nov.23, 1923 in Grapevine.He married Lela Faye Cummings May 22, 1945 in Mexico.He worked for Texas Electric Service Co. for 20 years and then joined General Motors as an electrician until he retired in 1985.He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany.His name appears on the Wall of Liberty in Normandy, France.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lela Faye Elson of Granbury ; three daughters, Sabra Jumper Clayton of Hurst, Necha Ruth Esquivel of Cresson and Shirley Renae Brown of North Richland Hills ; two brothers, Harvey Elson of Arlington, and Charles David Elson of Grand Prairie ; one sister, Mary Helen Ortiz of Hurst ; three grandsons, Paul Earon Jumper, Jason Daniel Jumper and Nathan Joseph McCardle ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were Saturday, Nov.18, 2000 in Wiley Funeral Home.Wiley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
