Death of Col. Jemison.

The people of this community were shocked last Wednesday by the sad news of the death of Col. J. S. Jemison, which occurred at his home in Birmingham last Tuesday night. The following notice of his death is from "The Birmingham Ledger" of April 13th:

While sitting in the library of is home, 1005 South 20th Street last night, John S. Jemison a well-known citizen of Birmingham, died suddenly. He was talking to Peter Ware of Pickens County at the time, and died a few minutes after being stricken. Death was due to heart disease.
Mr. Jemison was a brother of Robert Jemison, Sr., and was prominently known in real estate and other business circles in this city. He had just organized a new company for the purpose of manufacturing concrete blocks and for the past few weeks had been busy with the new enterprise.
Mr. Jemison came to Birmingham in 1886 from Tuscaloosa, where he was born in 1855. He married Miss Margie Allen of LaFayette, Ala., and lived in Montgomery, where he practiced law for awhile. He has resided in Birmingham continuously since 1886, and has many friends over North Alabama.
Telegrams have been sent to relatives and friends telling of Mr. Jemison's death, and it is expected that all of the children will arrive in the city tonight. Pending the arrival of relatives, funeral announcements will be announced later.
Mr. Jemison was 55 years of age at the time of his death and is survived by a widwo, Mrs. Margie Jemison, and several children as follows; Mrs. E.T.
