Paxson J. "Pete" Nash, age 64, of Marion, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 13, 2011, of a brief illness at home.

On January 2, 1947, Pete was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the oldest of five children of the late Melvin "Jay" and Mary (Gamber) Nash. He graduated from Lower Daulphin High School and graduated in the Class of 1965.

Shortly after graduation, Pete married a young lady who had swept him off his feet, Terry Mersing, on April 16, 1966. They shared over thirty nine years together and lovingly raised two sons: Pete and Zane. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2005, and he has missed her every day since.

With farming in his blood, Pete started farming when he was just a young boy and never stopped. And when his father sold their farm in Grantville, Pennsylvania, in 1969, to turn around and buy a dairy farm in Marion, Pete helped his father every step of the way. Most of the family joined them in their move to Marion, to what is now known as the Nash farm. For most of his life he was a dairy farmer, until five years ago when they switched to having just crops. He was proud to have his son, also carry on their family tradition of farming.

Able to fix up anything, Pete absolutely loved restoring various automobiles and only John Deere tractors. He was especially good at fixing and painting the body of a car or tractor, and was proud of his collection of restorations.

A gun enthusiast, Pete was a proud member of the NRA. He was also a staunch conservative and member of the NFIB.

Well known for acting tough, any one who knew Pete knew he had a "heart of gold" and he was really a "softy". Nevertheless, he would be the first to tell you what was on his mind, and he especially enjoyed yelling at the Fox News TV station. He truly was "one of a kind"!

He will be dearly missed by his two sons: Paxson "Pete" (Kathy) Nash Jr., of Marion, and Zane (Leila) Nash of Dublin; two grandsons: Jared Rhoads and Jase Elson; two sisters: Terry (David) Bryan of Marion and Gail Nash of Fredericksburg, PA; a brother, William "Bill" Nash of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his wife and parents, Pete was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Dyke.

Harley note---- I did not know Pete personally, but worked with his wife and am personal and working friends with his sister, Terry and her husband, David Bryan.
