Jeanne Boncutter, 86, died July 18 at Novato Community Hospital.
Born Jeanne Ellen Dixon February 28, 1923 to the late Austie Quay and Homer Dixon in Marion, Ohio; she moved to the Villas at Hamilton, 420 S. Palm Drive, Novato, California in 2006.
Mrs. Boncutter graduated in 1941 from Marion Harding High School and attended Indiana University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was active in numerous organizations in Marion, including the Women's Hospital Board, Town and Country Garden Club, Board of Red Cross, Ohio State University Buckeye Backers, St. Paul's Episcopal Church Alter Guild, and the League of Women Voters, and was a long time member of the Marion Country Club.
She worked for several years as a Welcome Wagon Hostess, as the office manager for Granger Realty, and as the office manager at The Ohio State University Marion branch. During World War II, Mrs. Boncutter worked at the Osgood Corporation. She was also a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood in Marion, and most recently in the PY Chapter of P.E.O. in Novato.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Bonner (husband, Daniel Henderson), of San Rafael, California; and a son, Jeff Boncutter, of Novato; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She married Harold Boncutter, of Marion, June 7, 1943, who died in 2004. A son, Harold, Jr. (Hal) died in 2000.
Jeanne and Harold were my neighbor for a few years on Skeawood Dr. in Marion.. They were both fine people and neighbors. They also had a lot of parties.
