Eugene Reynier was born in Les Thons de Lamarche, Neufchateau, Des Vosges,France. His parents were Jean Reynier and Pauline Amelie Prévôt. He came to America in 1895 with his parents when he was 16 mos. old. Eugene lived in Kokomo, Indiana; Cambridge, Ohio; Charleroi, Pa; and finally settled in Canonsburg, Pa. in 1910. He saw Halley's Comet in 1910 while working on the railroad and saw it again in 1985. He played trumpet professionally with several orchestras. He saw Al Capone in Chicago in the 1930s and worked at Standard Tin Plate in Canonsburg during the Great Depression, one of the only mills operating at the time. He had three brothers: Alphonse, John, and Paul and one half-sister Jennie Lauvaux. Another half-sister, Pauline, died at the age of 21 mos. from spinal meningitis. He married late in life at the age of 58 to Twila Dawson Snedeker, who was 21 yrs. old. They had three children. In his early life, he was a musician and traveled and played with various bands. Later in life, he played trumpet with the Canonsburg Civic Orchestra. He retired in the 1960's from the Fort Pitt Bridge Works where he was a cranesman and lived to the age of 92. He was healthy and active until the last few months of his life.
