Following his father's death, Antoine lived with his maternal relations on the Rue de Vaugirard, Paris, and at Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, where his uncle, Nicolas de Trevet was canon of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Nicolas. He joined the Armée française in 1735 and came to Canada as a cadet later that year.
On 11 November 1743, he married Marie-Louise Le Ber de Senneville at the Basilica of Notre-Dame, Montréal. They were the parents of nine children.
After a distinguished military career, he returned to France permanently in 1763 and was joined by his family the following year. They resided first at Sully-sur-Loire, then Paris and Tours, before acquiring a château in the city of Bourges. It was there that Antoine died on 23 January 1776.
