Passenger aboard the Mormon emigrant Ship Brooklyn. Fell downstairs during a storm one week out of port. She was expecting her eighth child at the time.
Laura later died of a miscarriage occasioned by the previous fall at age 33 years 11 months and 23 days.
She was buried "in the mouth of a cave" on Juan Fernandez Island, off the coast of Chili, South America.
