Enlisted (date unknown), he was mustered into Company C,.25th Virginia Militia Infantry as a Private.

Enlisting (25 years old) for 3 years' service on 4/14/1862 at Fredericksburg, VA., he was mustered into Captain Mark Arnold's Company (D) "Northern Neck Rangers", (Critcher's) Battalion Virginia Cavalry as a Private.
(This company subsequently became Company C, 15th Battalion Virginia Cavalry.)
Present on July & Aug 1862 Roll.
(On 9/9/1862 this company subsequently became Company E, 15th Virginia Cavalry.)
Present or accounted for on all Rolls until POW 5/18/1863 at Leighton's Ferry, Westmoreland County, VA.; "Paroled for exchange, sent North May 29, 1863."; confined in Old Capitol Prison, Wash., D.C.; paroled there 6/10/1863.
Reenlisted for the duration of the war. 2/1864 in Orange County.
POW 9/24/1864 at Luray, VA.; sent to Harper's Ferry, WVA.; transferred 9/30/1864 to Point Lookout, MD., arriving 10/3/1864; admitted into camp hospital (dates not given); Paroled & exchanged 2/10/1865; admitted 2/16/1865 into Chimborazo Hospital #5, Richmond, for chronic diarrhea; given 60-day Medical Furlough 2/21/1865.

The 15th Cavalry Regiment was formed in September, 1862, by consolidating the 14th and 15th Battalions Virginia Cavalry.
On November 8, 1864, it was absorbed by the 5th Regiment Virginia Cavalry (Consolidated).

Mr. Beverly W. Jenkins, formerly of King George, died at his home in Washington Wednesday, Oct. 13, aged 78 years. His remains will be brought here on the 11:27 a.m. train Friday and taken to the family burying ground at Bethel church in Stafford. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. John Brown, of Washington. He is an uncle of Mr. W. B. Jenkins, of this city.
