Inscription

(South facade) In memory of Harriot Campbell daughter of Benjamin Stoddert Secretary of Navy under John Adams and of Rebecca Lowndes his wife. She was born in Georgetown District of Columbia on the 12th day of April 1788. Married George Washington Campbell on the 18th day of July 1812. And died in Guyandotte, Virginia on the 17th day of July 1848. Her remains rest by the side of those of her husband beneath this stone.

Gravesite Details

Harriot Stoddert Campbell and George Washington Campbell share the same monument. Her inscription is on the South facade and his inscription is on the North.
