Sharon Theresa Dollinger 1959 ~ 2011
What a gift Boise, Idaho received when Sharon Dollinger arrived in town. Actively engaged in a myriad of civic and social activities her association with community and national organizations knew no bounds. Throughout her lifetime Sharon was actively involved in: National Association of Women Business Owners; The Red Cross; The National Heart Association; Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest; Girl Scouts of America; Garden City Community School; Idaho Small Business Development Center; and the Coast Guard.
In addition to her lengthy social involvements, Sharon was in the banking industry for 28 years and was presently the Vice President of Women's Financial Group at Zion's Bank. If you started a new business in Boise within the last 18 years, chances are you spoke with Sharon.
Unfortunately, Sharon died unexpectedly Monday April 11, 2011. She was born in Newport, Rhode Island August 26, 1959 and spent the early part of her youth in Japan, California, and Seattle.
It was during her employment with the Department of Health and Social Services at Fircrest Schools in Seattle that she met her future husband, David. Although he was hesitant at the transfer to Aspen Hall on the Fircrest campus his apprehension was alleviated the first time he saw his new co-worker, Sharon. Sharon and David married April 17, 1982 in Port Gamble, Washington. Thus began a union that lasted 30 years.
Although Sharon loved her association with many of the aforementioned organizations, they all paled in comparison to her beloved daughters: Natalie and Rachael. Whether it was a volleyball trip to California, or a ballet recital in Boise, Sharon was always front row center, applauding her daughters with the utmost pride.
Sharon is survived by her mother, Elsie LaCrosse; Dennis LaCrosse (brother); Chuck and Carmen LaCrosse (brother and sister in-law); Beth LaCrosse (sister); Ingrid and Dean Henden (sister and brother in-law), daughters, Rachael and Natalie, and beloved husband, David Dollinger.
If you had the opportunity to meet Sharon, even for a brief period of time, you were a better person because of it. Ultimately, she was a selfless, giving, and loving human being. Sharon was the real "treasure" in our Boise community.
There will be a service on Saturday April 16, 2011 from 12:30 - 2:30 at the Cathedral of the Rockies held in the Cana Chapel, with a gathering in the Bishops Lounge to follow. Please feel free to join us and honor Sharon's memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Planned Parenthood of Idaho.
