Officer Elgie Nelson Penn, Metropolitan Police Department-Special Operations Division-retired in January 1984, passed away on January 14, 2011. Officer Penn's name will be added to the Memoriam pages.

ELGIE NELSON PENN

Suddenly on Friday, January 14, 2011, retired District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Officer. Loving husband of 51 years to Bertha L. Penn; devoted father of Elgie N. Penn, Jr., Eldean K. Penn, Elerie A. Thomas (Virgil) and Elise B. Gordon (Shelton); brother of David L. Penn. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, January 24 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Holy Christian House of Praise, 5110 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE, Washington, DC. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Arrangements by POPE FUNERAL HOMES.
