Gleason Dale Gibbs "Deak", 76 passed away, Wednesday, June 27, 2010. Deak is a veteran of the US Army and worked for Johnny Boy's for many years. He was an avid Nascar Race fan and loved his dog "Sarge" (who was always at his side) as though he was his child. Deak was predeceased by his father Merritt Gibbs, mother Janie Berry, sister Janice Florine Gibbs-Joyner, brother Bromley C. Gibbs, and sister Nancy Maxine Gibbs-Peek. He is survived by daughter Elizabeth Annette Gibbs, brothers Berry Gibbs (Ruth) and Ames Gibbs and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In honor of Deak, a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Assistance League, 1149 New Mill Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
