Gene Silovsky, age 69, left us Nov. 21, 2013, at his home in Redmond. He was born in Chicago, on May 5, 1944, to parents, Josef and Aliosie (Danek) Silovsky. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister, in infancy. He is survived by his brother, George J. Silovsky Sr., Topeka, Kan.; four nephews; and a niece. Gene's professional life included more than 26 years with the USDA Forest Service in the Pacific Northwest region. Additional opportunities included assignments to a task force in Alaska and with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Gene was very active in the Wildlife Society, including serving as president of the Oregon Chapter. Other volunteer efforts involved the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Wild Sheep Foundation, Waterfowl USA and Ducks Unlimited. The body has been cremated. A committal service was held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Topeka, Kan. A celebration of life was held in Corvallis, at the Benton County Fairgrounds - Carriage House.
