Gladys Laird Leonardson, 95, a lifetime resident of Clark County, died at her home in Dubois on Monday, June 17, 2013, of causes incident to age.

Gladys was born in Dubois, Idaho, on May 26, 1918. She was a daughter of Joseph Albert Laird and Louie Dale Davidson Laird. She attended schools in Dubois, graduating from high school in May 1936.

She was employed by the H.R. Harn Agency, the Clark County Enterprise, the Clark County Treasurer's Office and the Mud Lake Telephone Cooperative. Gladys began work at the Mud Lake Co-op in 1964 as the office assistant and retired as the office manager in 1985. As a teenager, she was in charge of cooking for haying crews on her father's ranch.

Gladys married R. Rhule Leonardson on May 24, 1939. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 16, 1956. In 1989, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They lived in Dubois all of their lives with the exception of the two years they spent in Bremerton, Wash., where Rhule was employed at the naval shipyard during World War II.

She was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many capacities, including 15 years as the ward Primary president and six years as the ward Relief Society president. She was editor of the ward newsletter for 25 years and enjoyed teaching children and youth in Sunday school and Primary. In 1966, she was chosen as the Clark County Mother of the Year and was a candidate for Idaho's State Mother of the Year.

Gladys and Rhule were very devoted to their children and grandchildren, attending nearly all baptisms, graduations, missionary farewells/homecomings, birthday parties and related family activities. They enjoyed camping, and after retirement traveled to Arizona, California and Mexico in the winter.

Survivors include three sons, Gary (Janeen) Leonardson of Dillon, Mont., David (Tarri) Leonardson of Dubois and Rich (Jackie) Leonardson of Shelley; a sister, Ruth Laird Willes of Utah; 18 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rhule; and daughter, Carol Leonardson Felsted (Harold "Pete"); a brother, J. Albert Laird; five sisters, Louie Bulfer, Helen Rayner, Verla Webster, Lois Huntsman and Merle Laird (infant); and a great-great-granddaughter, Telaai Wiberg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Beaver Creek LDS Ward on Kilgore Road in Dubois. Burial will follow in Dubois Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services Saturday. Services are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center or a charity of choice .

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.buckmillerhann.com.
