A Chalmette man was found stabbed to death in his apartment Sunday afternoon after a co-worker hadn't heard from him for two days, according to the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office. Authorities arrested two people in the case Sunday, including a woman who was a friend of the victim.

Joseph Spurlock, 68, was found in his apartment in the 3300 block of LaPlace Drive in Chalmette, with multiple stab wounds to his upper body, according to the sheriff's office.

Spurlock was employed by Bayou State Security in New Orleans. A co-worker went looking for him Sunday because he hadn't come to work since he finished a shift early Friday morning.

Investigators believe Spurlock was killed sometime Friday morning. Neighbors heard a woman's voice in the apartment at that time, according to the sheriff's office.

Shari Head, 43, was booked with first-degree murder Sunday evening, the sheriff's office said.

Head, who was a friend of Spurlock, was found to be in possession of Spurlock's credit card. She listed a New Orleans address that was found to be abandoned when she was arrested.

She was believed to be staying with Chris Geeting, 39, at a mobile home in a trailer park in the 1900 block of Laura Drive in Chalmette. Geeting was also booked on first-degree murder charges Sunday evening. When police went to the trailer park to question Head, they said, they found her and Geeting loading a pickup truck.

Head has a criminal record that includes arrests for shoplifting, prostitution and theft. She was being sought by New Orleans police on a warrant for armed robbery, according to the sheriff's office. Geeting has earlier arrests on several drug and theft charges.

Head and Geeting both recently served time in St. Tammany Parish prison on shoplifting charges.

The pair were booked into St. Bernard Parish Prison on Sunday.
