Muscatine Man Killed At Milan

Raymond H. Adkins, 1404 Kansas St., Muscatine, a lift truck driver at the Eagle Food Center warehouse at Milan, III., was killed instantly at 8 a. m. today when he was pinned against the side of a freight car. Eagle officials said the lift truck he was driving ran off a platform, crushing him against the side of the freight car.

Adkins, 32, had been employed at the Milan warehouse since last August.

He is survived by his wife, Erline; two children, Kevin and Cathy; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Keplor of Eldon. Ia., and Mrs. James Rickey, Muscatine; and a brother, Leonard of Muscatine. He is also survived by his stepfather, Chester Carriker of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son.

Adkins was born Dec. 6, 1932, at Fairfield, la., the son of George and Vera Poole Adkins. He was a member of the church of Christ.

The body is now at the George M. Wittier funeral home, where services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday with Rev. Talmadge Murphy in charge. Friends may start calling Tuesday noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
