CHICOPEE - Jane B. (McKay) Amell, age 75, of Catherine Street, died Dec. 26 at home. Born in Springfield, she lived her entire life in Chicopee. She was a communicant of the First Congregational Church, a former trustee and deaconess of the Church and belonged to the Cemetery Commission of Chicopee Street Burying Ground. She retired from the Chicopee Public Library in 1990 after 23 years of working as a cataloger. Jane was the daughter of the late James and Mona C. (McKee) McKay. She is predeceased by her husband Earl Amell who passed away on Jan 1, 1992. She leaves her son James Amell of Chicopee, 2 daughters Alison Grey of Chicopee and Susan LaFlamme of West Springfield, a brother James McKay and his wife Ruth of Montgomery, a sister in law Hope Amell of Springfield, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews and her traveling companion and good friend Eleanor Ryan of Chicopee. Funeral was held Dec. 30 from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., followed by a Mass at the First Congregational Church and burial in Fairview Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Friends of the Chicopee Public Library or to the First Congregational Church, 302 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
