David A. Axtell, age 86 of Carlton, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016. He was born September 30, 1929 in Scanlon, MN to Elmer and Codie (Kelly) Axtell.

David worked for Conwed Corp. for 34½ years retiring in 1985 and continued working another 30 years as a bus driver for Carlton School District #93. David was united in marriage to Violet Bryant on September 22, 1951 and together raised three sons. He served in the National Guard, Battery “A”, and was a past member of the Eagles Club, AARP, Conwed 25 Year Club, and was a past member for 12 years with AFS Club in Carlton. David was also a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Grace, Vera, Velma, Guy, Buddy, Lloyd and Joanne.

David is survived by his wife Violet; sons: Larry (Deb), Michael (Luanne) and Scott (Lauralie) Axtell; grandchildren: Dan (Jocelyn) Axtell, Shanny (David) Hurst, Nick (Amber) Axtell, Jeremy (Jen) Axtell, Laura (Nick) Simon, Justine (Troy) Miller, Megan Axtell and Allison Axtell; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Rose) Axtell; sister, Alta Tiemens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
