A memorial service was held Feb. 3 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena. Burial will be held this spring.

Dennis was born at home Brainerd in Crow Wing County on Jan. 24, 1944 to Henry and Carmeletta Ahrens. He attended school in Brainered, Motley and Staples. The family moved to Staples when he was 12 years old. He remained a member of the Staples Community for over 50 years.
He joined the National Guard in 1961, and was a member of the Guard until 1967. He was a carman for the railroad and retired after 31 years.
On Oct. 27, 1962 he married Carolin Charie Gould. Dennis enjoyed golfing, hunting, motorcycling, car shows and especially his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years; one son, Curt (Carrie) of St. Cloud; one daughter, Shawn ( fiance Mike Mellies) of St. Cloud; three grandchildren; two sisters, Donna May Brobst of Estherville, Iowa; Pat (Tom) Neznik of Staples; his mother-in-law, Beatrice Gould, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
