Adwell, J. M.: "J. M. Adwell, aged 66 years, died at his home southeast of Sprague Tuesday from a stroke of paralysis, which came on only four days prior to his death. Mr. Adwell was one of the veterans of the civil war, although not a member of the GAR. He came to this vicinity over 20 years ago and was one of the best respected citizens in the neighborhood in which he lived. He was the father of seven children, four girls and three boys, and these with a devoted wife mourn the loss of the departed one. Funeral services were conducted at the family home yesterday by Rev Williamson of Plaza. The remains were brought to the Maccabee Cemetery in this city for interment. The services and burial were attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors who paid the last tribute of respect to their departed friend with heavy hearts." (Sprague Times-May 19, 1904)) "Lot 1, Section 81, grave 6, Maccabee Cemetery" (Sprague Mortuary ledger, shown in record of Samuel Adwell)
