Bennie Melvin Brister, 81, of Wesson, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Friday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will be 10am Saturday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Mr. Brister was a native of Copiah County. He lived in Copiah County all of his life except for a short time in Florida. He was plant manager of The Potter Company over 35 years.

Mr. Brister served in the US Navy and the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a workaholic doing things for his kids as long as he was able and he loved to travel.

He is survived by sons, Eddie Brister and wife Kay, Jerry Brister and Glenn Brister both of Wesson; Susan Foster and husband Daniel of Clinton and Gayle Creely and husband Mike of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Ann Spurlock of South Carolina, Frances Furlow of Jackson, Jean Stegall of Byram, and Billy Jo Young of Jackson; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
