"Aunt Hattie", as she was lovingly called, moved to Lima Oklahoma, where she remained until her death. She will be remembered for being responsible for the wonderful smell of homemade rolls she prepared while working at Lima Elementary School as a cook. She was preceded in death by her parents..Carey and Anna Franklin Hill, several of her Eleven siblings, both husbands, and two sons...Buford and Emory Harding. Aunt Hattie loved her Savior and had a kind heart. That is evident by her being a responsible parent for five of her neice's (Annie's) children. She raised Patricia, Brenda, Wendell, William Bruce, and two year old, Sharon Gabriel until the age of responsibility. This was long after she had raised her remaining biological children: Huella Headspeath Brown, Buelena Geneva Hardin Johnson, Clarena Oletha Hardin Shelton, and son, JD Hardin. In addition, she assisted in the care of her Granddaughter, Oletha Shelton Futrel, as well as Oletha's daughter Felecia Logan. Aunt Hattie loved fishing with her good friend, Mrs. Lottie Shelton, and enjoyed the after church visitation of friend, Mrs. Bertha Gordon.
The energy, and love in her heart allowed her to live only a few feet from her blind sister, Georgietta Blanton, preparing her meals, and each sitting of their porches laughing, talking of old times, and providing friendship together. Many relatives found themselves staying in the home of Aunt Hattie over the years. Siblings, Georgia Blanton, James Eugene Hill,and Rev. Blanton Hill lived in surrounding areas and visited often. One Brother, Burl Sr., passed away in Oklahoma. An older sister, Rosietta Patterson lived a few blocks away. Her sister, Beatrice lived in California where she became a movie star, and being the only sibling to use the name Northernweather, which is the true name of their ancestors. Aunt Hattie's son, JD Hardin, for years, put his life on hold and remained home, and cared for Aunt Hattie until her death.
Her being called to rest saddened our hearts, then we remembered her tireless work and had to thank God, we were all a part of this special lady's life.
