ANTON ADAMIC, SR., known in Fremont County, Colorado, as a rancher and merchant, is the owner of the Fawn Hollow Ranch and also of the Prospect Heights Mercantile Company, the later located in Florence. This store, a side interest of Mr. Adamic's, is operated by his daughter Mildred, who is Mrs. Lewis Pierce. Mr. Adamic specializes in the raising of high grade commercial Hereford cattle with registered bulls on his two ranches. He acquired the Fawn Hollow Ranch in 1920 as settlement of a loan. Mr. Adamic, a resident of the United States since the age of sixteen, has become an important factor in the progress and development of Fremont County.
Anton Adamic, the son of John and Frances Adamic, was born on June 13, 1871, in Yugoslavia. He received his education in the public schools of that country. After coming to America he settled in Fremont County, Colorao, where he became employed by the American Smelting Company. Later, he entered the cattle business.
Mr. Adamic was married to Miss Martha Baumgartel in 1898. Mrs. Adamic is the daughter of Bernhardt and Ada Baumgartel. Mr. and Mrs. Adamic became the parents of four children: Frances, deceased; Anton, Jr., who married Miss Anna Skerjanes; Mildred, now Mrs. Lewis Pierce; and Frank A., married to the former Miss Mary Adamic.
Mr. Adamic is a member of the Colorado Cattlemen's Association and the Fremont County Stock Growers Association. His chief interest is cattle. Mr. Adamic has made his own way up the ladder of success and has achieved an enviable standing in both ranching and industrial circles.
