She was united in marriage to Raymond Abeyta and they shared a long and happy union of 67 years until his passing. Flora devoted her life to caring for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She always welcomed everyone with open arms and never knew a stranger. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, singing, listening to music, reading and spending time with all her family and friends. Flora had a unique ability with animals and she always remembered everything, her family called her the “Queen of Trivia.”
She is survived by her daughters Pat Abeyta of Grand Junction, CO; Alice (John) Volpe of Houston, TX; Maria (Chris) Cox of Las Vegas, NV; Sara Abeyta of Murrieta, CA; Sharon (Christy) Abeyta of Colorado Springs, CO; Linda Ortiz of Phoenix, AZ; sons Eloy (Linda) Abeyta of North Las Vegas, NV; Bill Abeyta of Puerto Penasco, MX; Vernon Abeyta of Salt Lake City, UT; Mike Abeyta of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Catherine Carpenter of Napa, ID; brother Albert (Christy) Espinosa of Manhattan, KS. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Maria Espinosa, husband Raymond Abeyta, son Ben Abeyta, brother Arthur Espinosa and sister Margie Martinez.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, Sept 24, 2015 at 7PM at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, Sept 25, 2015 at 10AM also at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Del Norte Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. The care of arrangements has been trusted to the care of Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
