TSE BONITO — Services for Cecil Benally Sr., 64,will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug 8 at Tse Bonito Memorial Chapel. Pastor Willie Watts Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Lone Pine Cemetery, Mexican Springs.
Benally Sr. was born March 30, 1939 in Fort Defiance, Ariz. into the Tiogi People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.
Benally Sr. graduated from Sherman Indian School. He studied as a carpenter, and was a journeyman carpenter in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. His hobbies included singing, playing guitar, and biking.
Survivors include his son, Cecil Benally Jr. of Boise, Idaho; daughters, Anjela Benally of Phoenix and Sharon Benally of Albuquerque; brothers, Phillip Benally and Nichol P. Benally both of Fort Defiance, Ariz.; sister, Eleanor B. Nabahe of Shiprock and Roselyn Lavato of Santo Domingo Pueblo; and two grandchildren.
Benally was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Muskett Benally and Paul Benally; brother, Eugene Benally and daughter, Beaulah Benally.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Begay Sr., Sabastian Lavato, Joseph Lavato, Gerald Bagola and Matthew Nabahe.
