John Louis Albritton, 93, passed away Monday, January 5, 1998, in Lancaster. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at West/Hurtt Funeral Home. Dr. Jerry Raines will officiate. Eulogy will be given by John Albritton. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Thursday in Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials: Hampton Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 N. Hampton Road, DeSoto, Texas 75115.
John Louis Albritton was born September 27, 1904, in Fort Worth and had lived in Lancaster for 20 years. He was known as an honest man and a hard worker. He worked for Tennessee Dairy, Dallas, Borden Dairy, at Army and Air Force facilities in San Antonio during the war and had owned grocery stores in Dallas and Tarrant counties for the rest of his years until retirement. He worked for DeSoto True Value until he was 85.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, several siblings and his wife of 65 years, Azile Onstott Albritton, who died in 1993.
Survivors: His sons and their wives, Harold and Lane Albritton of Colleyville and John and Gayle Albritton of Rockwall; daughters and their husbands, Janell and Joe Long of DeSoto and Rebecca and Will Ponder of Austin; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one soon-to-be great-great-grandchild; sister, Pollie Brown of Dallas; and a great many nieces and nephews.
