From the Sonora Banner newspaper: On Monday last an old, worthy and respected citizen of this county died in Columbia. For many years Louis Brunet has been engaged in business in Columbia, and made a host of friends by his honest, upright dealing. His funeral took place Tuesday in Columbia, under the auspices of the I. O. O. F. Lodge, and was largely attended. A goodly number from Sonora were in attendance.
Described as a prominent resident of Columbia, he was the father of Louisa Brunet and step-father to George Napoleon, Charles and Albert Smith, and Rosalie Smith Baier. He was the third and last husband of Anastasie George Napoleon Smith Brunet.

The death of Louis Brunet's daughter, Louise, occurred in 1943. I do not know where her ashes are.
Mrs. Louise Price, nee Brunet, passed away July 16, 1943, on a Friday evening at a Sonora hospital after a long illness. She was 69.
Mrs. Price was a native of Columbia and a lifelong resident of the community. She was born in Columbia on October 12, 1873.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Price.
She was survived by her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Nicholson, and a son, Louis Price, three granddaughters, Patricia Price, and Janice and Ann Nicholson, all of Sonora.
Cremation took place at the Park View Crematorium in Stockton.
Reverend E. C. Tuthill officiated at the private services at the Burden Chapel.
∼At Columbia, after a lingering illness, on Sunday evening at 8 o'clock, March 10th, 1889, Louis Burnett, aged 70 years. Deceased was an old resident of Columbia and a member of Tuolumne Lodge, No. 21, I.O.O.F., and was buried in their cemetery on Tuesday by the members of the order, to which he had endeared himself for many years, having joined the order in 1865
