He started his career with The Ohio Oil Company in 1937 after graduating from the International Business College with a certificate in accounting. He retired from Marathon Oil Company (Ohio Oil Company) after 42 years of service. He started as a terminal operator in Bay City, Michigan and completed his career with Marathon Oil as Corporate Operations Manager for Retail Marketing.
Fred married Pauline Zimmerman in 1936 and is survived by Pauline, sister Irene Sharninghouse of Findlay, Ohio, two sons, Jon (Lorraine) of Columbus, Indiana and Tim (Alice) of Salinas, and two grandsons, Greg (Andy) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Christopher of Salinas. His son, Michael, preceded him in death in 1989.
His family and the many friends he made throughout the country will miss Fred, a loving husband and father, avid fisherman, golfer, piano player, and good friend, He was a model father and husband.
