Bruce loved music and sang in the Celebration Choir at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member. Prior to his retirement, he was highly regarded as a sales person and as a sales manager in the automotive and trucking industry. While attending Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, he volunteered to serve in the armed forces. He was a highly decorated Army combat helicopter pilot of the Vietnam era, and later served as the executive officer of two military police battalions.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George K. and Martha Ann Babish; and two brothers, Barry and John.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, 701 Merchant Drive, Knoxville, TN, 37912 with a celebration of life service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Reverend Kent Williams and Reverend Terry McNatt officiating. A Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013, at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway in Knoxville, with full military honors to be conferred. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice, Bruce's church, the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
