Lorena Sue Chitwood, 64, of Oneida, died January 16, 2001, at her home. Born in Scott County, April 29, 1936, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Smith; and one grandson, Casey Cole Chitwood. She was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church.


She is survived by her parents, Ike and Ollie Smith of Oneida; her husband, Billy R. Chitwood of Oneida; three children: Dana Chitwood and wife, Amanda, Dale Chitwood and wife, Shirley, and Carla Vaughn and husband, Jeff, all of Oneida; eight grandchildren, two sisters, Jan Laxton and husband, Jim, of Oneida, and Pat Watson of Knoxville; brothers, Harold Smith and wife, Yvonne of Knoxville, and James Smith and wife, Virginia, Billy Joe Smith and wife, Carolyn, and Tony Smith and wife, Terry, all of Oneida; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.


Funeral service was conducted January 20, 2001, at Black Oak Baptist Church with Rev. James Laxton and Rev. Gilbert Phillips officiating. Music was provided by the O'Neal Singers and the Duncan Family. Internment followed in Smith Family Cemetery. West – Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
