Pastor Steve Gray, age 48, of Columbia, TN, and a native of Decatur Al, left this life March 5 at his resident. The legacy he leaves behind is that as a great man of God, Pastor, Husband, and Dad. His vision will live on to be carried out changing lives of young people.
He dedicated his time and his life to ministering, feeding the needy, clothing the naked, and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ … a great missionary he was.
Survivors include his wife: co-pastor Mamie Gray; son: Steve Gray Jr; daughters: Angela and Latasha Gray; and one granddaughter; Aariyah Gray; parents: Elijah and Geneva Gray; and grandmother: Lillie Mae Wiggins. He was preceded in death by sisters: Rachel and Martha Gray; and brother: Pilot Gray.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in Alabama: Pastor John (Linda) Gray, Bishop Elijah III (Victoria) Gray, Samuel (Sherry) Gray, Shirley Green, Elizabeth (Edward) Raybon, Mary Gray, and Naomi (David) Pruitt; as well as his mother-in-law: Mattie Garrett of Pulaski, TN.
The body will lie in state Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Roundtree, Napier and Ogilvie Funeral Home in Columbia from 2:30-5:00 p.m. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm- 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family will receive friends on Monday March 12, 2012 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 with Services to follow at First Family Baptist Church located at 2790 Pulaski Highway Columbia, Tennessee. Eulogists will be Pastor Steven Morgan and Bishop Stanley Garrett. Internment will follow at Maury Memorial Gardens in Columbia.
