BURLINGTON, N.C. - Katherine "Kat" Mae Burton, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Alamance Health Care. She was a native of Caswell County and the daughter of the late Lester Hassell Burton and Mary Elizabeth Bradsher Burton.

Kat retired from Tower Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Betty Futrell Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her sister, Beatrice "Bea" Hornaday, of Burlington; and her brother, Julian C. Burton and his wife, Betty, of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Margaret Burton of Elon and Margie Burton of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lester B. Burton, Floyd H. Burton and C. Chester Burton.

The Burton family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Alamance Health Care for their kind and compassionate care for Katherine.

A service to celebrate her life will be conducted on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church Chapel by Dr. Tommy Willis and the burial will follow at Baynes Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of her brother, Julian C. Burton.
