WATERTOWN — Olga L. Buttrick, 89, of Killorin Road, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday at her home. She was the widow of Winthrop P. Buttrick, her husband of 38 years who died in 1989.
Mrs. Buttrick was born in Waterbury Jan. 17, 1920, daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Pedaney) Lehotskie. After high school, she attended Traphagen School of Design in New York City where she learned to be a seamstress. Mrs. Buttrick was a longtime resident of Watertown. She was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church and served the church in many capacities. Until recently, her daily routine included morning prayer at the church.
She was a member of the Friends of the Watertown Library and volunteered at the book nook. Mrs. Buttrick loved the outdoors and was an avid bicyclist and gardener. She was especially fond of her cats. She was a seamstress and taught many people, including her daughter, how to sew and cook. She was kind, cheerful and happy and always considered herself blessed. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by three daughters, Catherine J. Buttrick of Pocatello, Idaho, Laura B. Gaewsky of Center Tuftonboro, Vt., and Mary Hoag of New Hartford; a sister, Eva E. Lehotskie of Thomaston; four grandchildren, Marcus J. Mueller, Kristopher Gaewsky, Sara Gaewsky and Jesse Hoag-Hein; and a great-granddaughter, Anabelle Lily Gaewsky. She also leaves the Kishonis children who were very dear to her.
Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 262 Main St., Oakville, with the Reverend Andrew Zeman officiating. Interment of ashes in the church's memorial garden will follow. There are no calling hours. The Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church Book of Remembrance, 262 Main St., Oakville 06779.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Buttrick's friends and neighbors for all their help and support.
