Edna Bartz, 100, Moose Lake, formerly Barnum, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on March 28, 1909 in Barnum Twp. to Christoph and Anna Langhorst. Edna attended the Central School in Nemadji where she graduated on June 2, 1927. She was very proud of being part of the 1926 District Champions for Women's Indoor Baseball. After graduation, Edna worked as a housekeeper and nanny. On August 4, 1935, Edna married Herman Bartz in Nemadji Zion Lutheran Church. They lived in Iowa until 1942 when they moved to Clear Creek Township where they farmed and Edna was a homemaker through the years. She was very active and lived on the farm until the age of 93. Edna was a very active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Barnum and its Ladies Aid and Faith Circle. She also took part in their Bible Study and truly enjoyed reading the Bible. Edna also loved dancing, quilting, agate picking, and was well known for her cooking and the chocolate chip cookies which she baked.

She always remembered everyone's birthday and sent them a card. She will be sadly missed by all the people whose lives she touched.
