Belarmino, native of Cañones and resident of Ranchitos, was predeceased by his mother Elena Valdez; son Chris Valdez; grandfather Belarmino Valdez.

A.B. was survived by his wife Dorothy Valdez; children: Kathy Valdez (husband Michael), Benjie Valdez and Andrew Valdez, all of Española; brothers: Ralph Valdez (wife Josefine) of Chamita and Tony Valdez (wife MaryAnn) of Española; sisters: Gloria Garcia (husband Tommy) and Lorida Valdez of Albuquerque; raised like a son Bobby Valdez (wife Laura); 8 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous other family and friends.

A.B. was a successful rancher, farmer, and businessman for 40 years and served his community in a variety of positions. He was Chairperson for the Rio Arriba Planning and Zoning Commission and a member of the Comadre and Compadre Support Program of Ghost Ranch. He was also a member of the Mesa del Medio Cattle Growers Association (Coyote Ranger District) and held the presidency for 13 years. He was commissioner of the Chamita Community Ditch for 18 years and served as chairman for 12 years. He served on the San Juan Parish Council for 4 years and on the Rio Grande Alcoholism Treatment Center Board of Directors for 4 years. He was Precinct Chairman of the Democratic Party for Precincts 3 & 4 (El Llano and Ranchitos) for 10 years. For 22 years he was in law enforcement for the City of Española and was police chief for 11 of those years.

A Rosary was recited on 18 Mar at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owengeh Pueblo. Mass of Christian burial was on 19 Mar als at the same church. Burial followed at the Cañones Cemetery. Pallbearers: Isaiah Valdez, Mario Valdez, Demetri Valdez, Michael Valdez, Ezequiel Garcia, and Brian Valdez. Honorary pallbearers: Isaac Valdez, Melaquias Valdez, Eric Valdez, Joey Valdez, Adrian Valdez, Julio Garcia, Peter Sanchez, Alex Gallegos, Juan Duran, Severo Gonzales, Zack Paña, Moises Morales, Felipe Martinez, Alfred Martinez, Elias Coriz, Richard Marquez, and Richard Serna.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to be made in A.B.'s memory to the Rio Arriba County 4H Council.
