A retired plant operator with Placid Oil Refinery and a resident of Port Allen, he died at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at his home. He was 60, a sergeant major with the U.S. Army and a native of Ventress.
Visiting at Hall's Celebration Center, religious service, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Riley. Interment in Orange Grove Cemetery in Port Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Walls Penny; three daughters, Latasha Penny, Brenda Penny Jarrett and Dana Ayo; a sister, Clara Franklin; three brothers, Johnny Penny, Clifton Penny and Donald Ray Penny; and three grandchildren, William John Penny, Tia Ayo and Amaya Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Olevia Penny; sister, Bernice Daniel; and brothers, James Jr., Jessie Charles and William Penny.
