Carter, Rosa L. Murray James A domestic engineer and a resident of Port Allen, she died Monday, April 2, 2007, at 9:10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 74 and a native of Walls. Visiting at Hall's Celebration Center on Friday, April 6, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Religious service at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joe Paul. Interment in Orange Grove Cemetery in Port Allen. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Claude Cannon of Texas, Ethel and James Stewart of New Roads, Shirley and Carl Murphy of Port Allen, Margaret and Charles Batiste of Addis, and Linda and Hubert Carmena of Slaughter; two sons, Edward James and Nat James, both of Port Allen; stepsisters, Hazel Johnson, Louella Williams and Brenda Harris and adopted sister, Alnetta Stewart; daughter-in-law, Linda James; three godchildren, Irma Davis, Terry Carter and Michell Jones; 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Nat Murray; three children, Michael and Alton James and Mildred Lawson; granddaughter, Tricot Lawson; and a great-grandchild, Megan Cannon.
