Residence Burned.

The residence of Mr. J. M. Blanks, of Beat 4, this county, was burned last Sunday night. The residence was recently built and was a good one and Mr. Blanks has the sympathy of our people in his misfortune. The fire was discovered about 9 o'clock. Its origin is unknown. The loss is partly covered by insurance.

AND...

October 24, 1900:

"The LaFayette Sun" – October 2, 1907

Burke's Peak - We, with many friends and relatives, were shocked to learn of the death of Mr. J. M. Blanks, which occurred at his home in Lineville one day last week, from a recent attack of paralysis. His remains were interred at the cemetery at Rock Spring with Masonic honors. He was a consistent member of the Missionary Baptist Church. We sympathize with the grief stricken family.

It seems the clerk made an error and this should be SUSAN BLANKS. Sallie Blanks, wife of J. M. Blanks did not die until 1935, and SUSAN BLANKS can not be located on the 1900 Census. Also there were no other Blanks names found in the church records prior to 1887.
