SPRINGSTEAD, N.M. — Services for Pastor Tom Arvison, 70, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 5 at the Joshua Generation for Jesus. Pastor Dennis Keith will officiate. Burial will follow on family land in Springstead.

Arviso died Jan. 31 in Gallup. He was born May 15, 1936 in Springstead into the Edge Water People Clan for the Black Streak People Clan.

Arviso attended Intermountail School in 1950-1951. He worked in the uranium mining industry, for the Santa Fe Railroad, Wingate Army Depot, ONEO Navajo Tribe. He was the senior pastor of the Happy Valley Full Gospel Church in Springstead. His hobbies included gardening, sheepherding, hauling firewood and outdoor cooking.

Survivors include his wife Janice Y. Arviso; sons, Pastor Bobby Arviso of Crownpoint, Pastor Robert Arviso of Springstead, Thomas Arviso; daughters Helen Tom of Sweetwater, Ariz., Rita Tom of Blackfoot, Idaho, Genevieve Arviso and Janny Arviso, both of Springstead; brother James Arviso; sisters Sylvia Arviso, Sally A. Yazzie and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marie Arviso; grandparents Joe Holland, Kimbah Holland, Joe Jesus Arviso and Nanabah Arviso and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Damie Tom, Jared Tom, Javan Arviso, Bryan Arviso, Eric Yazzie, Michael Begay and Ronald Begay.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church Rock Chapter House after services.
