Obituary published in St. Joseph News Press November 18, 1963: Alva T. Courtney, 75, died yesterday at a St. Joseph hospital. A retired farmer, Mr. Courtney had spent his life in Buchanan and Platte Counties.
He is survived by a son, Harold Courtney, Camden Point, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Root and Mrs. Wilfred Jennings, both of St. Joseph. And four sisters, Mrs. Floy Benning and Mrs. Olah Freeman, both of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Sylvia Moss, Kansas City, and Mrs. Mollie Moss, Gower. Mo.
Services will be tomorrow at 2 at the Vaugh Aufranc funeral home, Dearborn, Mo. Burial will be in No. 6 cemetery.
