Helene Maitland Rouzer, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care, Friday, January 29, 2010.
Born March 18, 1921, in Vale Summit, MD, she was the daughter of the late John William and Helene Marie (Sperlien) Hansel.
Mrs. Rouzer attended Frostburg State University and Western Maryland (now McDaniel) College and earned Bachelor and Master of Education degrees. She taught in the Hanover Public School District for more than 30 years and served as a principal for 15 years before she retired in 1985.
Helene was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Delta Kappa Gamma, Hanover Retired Teachers, York County Retired Teachers, and Pennsylvania Retired Teachers.
Helene was the loving wife of Robert J. Rouzer until his passing on November 6, 1996 and leaves behind two children, Susan B. Rouzer, of Woodland Hills, CA, and Robert M. Rouzer and wife, Martha of Cary, IL; two grandchildren, Alison Rouzer of Minneapolis, MN, and Amy Rouzer of Cary, IL; a brother, Dr. William Hansel of Baton Rouge, LA; and three nieces, Barbara Hansel of Portland, OR, Kay DeMooy and husband, Abraham of Portland, OR, and Mary Lou Tome and husband, Joseph of Cumberland, MD.
Interment was in Center View Cemetery, Biglerville.
