BALLANTYNE – In this city, August 28, at his late residence, 984 Hawthorne avenue, James M. Ballantyne, aged 52 years.  The remains are at the residence establishment of J. P. Finley & Son, Montgomery at Fifth.

JAMES BALLENTINE, A FORMER RESIDENT, DIES

Body to Be Brought Here From Portland, Ore., Where Death Occurred Monday Afternoon.

James Ballentine, a former resident of this city, died on Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his home in Portland, Ore., according to word received by Mattoon relatives.  Death was resultant from heart trouble, from which he had been ailing for some time, but his condition did not become serious until the last two weeks.  Since that time the relatives here have been expecting news of his death.

The body will be shipped from Portland to this city for funeral and burial services.  No definite arrangements will be made until after arrival here.  The body will be taken to the home of the father, James Ballentine, 1013 Charleston avenue.

Mr. Ballentine left this city about thirteen years ago, but about four years ago he returned with Mrs. Ballentine for a visit.  He was employed as an engineer on the Big Four while a resident here.

Besides the widow there survive the father, James Ballentine and the following brothers and sisters: J. F. Ballentine, Bert Ballentine, Miss Minnie Ballentine, Miss Kate Ballentine, all of this city; Mrs. Margaret Kennedy of Chicago, and Mrs. Roy Alcorn of Los Angeles, Cal.

BALLANTYNE – The funeral services of the late James M. Ballantyne will be held today (Tuesday) at 2:30 o'clock P.M. at the residence establishment of J. P. Finley & Son, Montgomery at Fifth.  Friends invited.  Interment at Mattoon, Ill.

Ballantyne Funeral Held.

Funeral services for James M. Ballantyne, who died in this city August 28, were conducted yesterday afternoon, by Rev. Father W. A. Waite, at Finley's chapel.  Mr. Ballantyne is survived by his widow, who will accompany the body to Mattoon, Ill., where the interment will be made.

BODY OF JAMES BALLENTINE WILL ARRIVE SATURDAY

The remains of the late James Ballentine, whose death occurred in Portland, Ore., about two weeks ago, will arrive in Mattoon on Saturday morning on train 5 of the Illinois Central, and will be removed to the Phillips undertaking establishment.  Later the body will be removed to the home of the father, James B. Ballentine, 1013 Charleston avenue, where it will be held until time for the funeral.  Arrangements for the services will be made after the body arrives.  Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery.

The body of James Ballentine, who died about two weeks ago in Portland, Ore., arrived this afternoon at 1:13 o'clock by way of Chicago.  It was taken to the Phillips undertaking establishment and then to the home of the father, James Ballentine, 1013 Charleston avenue.

The funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, conducted by Rev. Father Higgins.  Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery.
