ROBERT STANLEY BRITTON
October 4, 1944 ~ December 1, 1999

Robert Stanley Britton, 55, a lifelong resident of Idabel, passed away Wednesday, Dec 1, after a short illness at St Joseph's Hospital, Paris Texas.

He was born Oct 4, 1944 at Idabel to Bill and Lucille Britton.
Stanley, or "Nanner" as he was called by his family, grew up in Idabel and attended Idabel Public Schools. He was of the Holiness faith.

He married Judy Turbyfill of Idabel and from this union came three children. For many years Stanley worked as an auto mechanic becoming certified by General Motors. He worked carpenter jobs later in life.He was a former member of the Oklahoma National Guard and a reserve deputy sheriff during Paul Stuart's administration. Stanley loved to fish and take care of his dogs. He especially loved to be with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Betty Jean, an infant, a stepson Jimmy Wayne Turbyfill, his father Bill Britton, and also two infant grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Lucille Nix Britton, Idabel, a son Steven Britton, Idabel; one daughter Beverly Parr, Waskom Texas, a stepdaughter Teresa Bean, Idabel, two brothers, Donald and Bobby of Idabel; four grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

He is also survived by a host of friends and and other family members including three special friends, Calvin Snider, McIvin Gammon and Don Bean all of Idabel.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rockhill {sic} Cemetery, Holly Creek by the Rev. Thomas Cockerham.

The family will gather at noon Saturday at the home of Tim and Vickie Robbins in the Cisco area.

Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jim Norwood Funeral Service, Idabel.
