Julia Lee Jackson departed this life on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, to be with the Lord. She was the daughter of the late Gus and Mary Phillips.

Julia's heart overflowed with love for the Lord, her family and others. Always filling God's garden and her home with beautiful flowers and plants, Julia would say, "Give me my flowers while I'm living so I can see and smell them." Her compassionate spirit lifted the weary and her beautiful smile warmed the hearts of all. A warm and affectionate grandmother, Julia was blessed with 17 grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving husband of 46 years, Joseph L. Jackson Sr.; two daughters, Sherry L. and Christine M. Jackson, both of Port Allen;

four sons, Joseph L. Jackson Jr. and wife Gaynelle of Richmond, Va., Dennis W. Jackson and wife Millie of Port Allen, Michael K. Jackson and wife Wanda and Eric T. Jackson and wife Johanna, all of Baton Rouge.

She is also survived by three brothers, Alphonse 1930-2009
and Melvin Phillips, both of Port Allen and Larry Phillips of St. Gabriel;

seven sisters, Lena M. Antoine, Deboriah Phillips and Thelma Williams, all of Port Allen, Shirley Davis, Sally Carmena and Velma McCray, all of Baton Rouge and Ella Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Julia was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby, Elmo, Lewis, Augustus and Fred Lee Philips; brother-in-law, Edward Jackson; sisters-in-law, Alberta J. Fisher and Leodell Jackson 1936-2005.

A service to celebrate her life will be at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 950 Seventh St., Port Allen. Interment in Old Folks Cemetery in Port Allen.
